About:
A stunning victorian dutch 14ct yellow gold novelty dog motif chain circa 1850s.
A rare and exciting find!
Made from solid 14ct Yellow Gold and has the most beautiful intricate semi articulated three dimensional fancy box link chain which is adorned by feature ball ends.
The dog ( a breed of sighthound) is amazing quality with fantastic tooling and a garnet eye ( one garnet missing although its more characterful and hardly noticeable)
The chain has had a 9ct gold belcher extender chain added to the end to make it an ideal necklace length but this can easily be removed and reattached as it was without any detriment to its originality.
The chain would have originally been made as a ladies Albertina chain to hold a ladies gold pocket watch.
An extremely aesthetically pleasing peace of jewellery and a must have piece for antique jewellery lover, we purchased this piece alongside a similar necklace which has a fox motif.
Chain has a quality oversize bolt ring fastener catch ( this would have originally fastened to the ladies garment) and also its screw down dog clip which would have gone on a watch.
There are numerous dutch gold hallmarks featuring the leaf motif meaning 14ct gold ( also professionally tested as such)
Condition:
Amazing condition, an Immaculate piece of jewellery.
The dog is missing one of his garnet eyes! ( I think he looks good as it is but this can be sourced of required)
Cleaned and lightly polished
Materials:
14ct Yellow gold, marked and professionally tested as such.
9ct rosey gold belcher chain extender
Total weight= 12.95 grams
Size:

Dog= 28 x 12mm
